Anna Radford

Why I love being in PR

I am fascinated with the way organisations and their internal and external stakeholders function and inter-relate.  My strategic insight really comes into play when assisting clients - so much so that I sometimes end up helping clients develop their organisational strategy (vision, mission, business objectives and values) as a precursor to their communication programme.

IABC Kiwi Quill Award - Internal Communications

PRINZ Award - Highly-commended in Not-for-Profit Category

SMACKL Award - Highly-commended

Working on

I provide strategic counsel and tactical implementation for a variety of Cadence Communications clients and also work closely with Suzanne on business development.  Cadence is a relatively new organisation so I’m always working hard to ensure that we have the right systems and processes in place to efficiently deliver fantastic service to our clients.

Clients tell me they like the way I’m not afraid to ask the hard questions and how I am great at quickly and effectively sifting through all of the detail to get to the heart of the matter.

Before Cadence

Before co-founding Cadence Communications I ran my own sole-practitioner PR business – Radford Communications – for 16 years.  Other work experience includes a variety of in-house roles in corporate and not-for-profit organisations in New Zealand and the UK.  Way, way back when the dinosaurs roamed I was a junior reporter at the NZ Herald.

When I’m not wrangling my husband and two teenage sons, I often can be found doing pump and yoga at Les Mills.  I really enjoy yoga and in late 2017 qualified as a yoga teacher. I’m also a keen foodie who loves seeking out exotic and weird things to eat.  One weird food discovery was Stinky Tofu at a Taiwanese restaurant (it wasn’t too stinky and tastes a bit like gorgonzola cheese).

Other interests include the great outdoors, natural history, travel, cycling and reading.

I have a BA in history and politics from Auckland University, a Diploma in Business Studies (Public Relations endorsement) from Massey University, and a journalism certificate from Auckland Technology Institute (now known
as AUT).
