why i find PR exciting!

It’s a fast-paced and competitive environment that keeps you on your toes. I like that I’m have to think quickly and strategically to get to the heart of the matter and therefore use my insight and experience to deliver to the client’s best interest.

Working on consumer accounts can be very creative. I like the ideation process, but I also enjoy the high volume of detail required to execute campaigns that are held accountable by consumers.

Working in consumer markets has given me strong crisis management skills. My experience in issues management has also included working on the initial hours of the ‘Dunblane Massacre’ (UK) in which 25 school children were tragically shot and killed, as well as dealing with sectarian issues within Scottish Football with client Scottish Premier League football club - Motherwell Football Club.

Young Advertising Executive of the Year (Australasia) 2003.

I started my career as a journalist before moving into marketing communications, where I predominately worked for large FMCG brands, including Scottish & Newcastle in the UK (the UK’s largest brewery at the time). My work in New Zealand includes Cadbury Confectionery, Heinz-Watties, Lion Nathan Wines & Spirits, Fosters, Treasury Wine Estates, KFC, Pizza Hut.

On each of these accounts I was involved in setting the marketing communication strategy and delivering on consumer and trade promotional strategies (including concept development and execution). As well as handling big consumer brands, my recent work with Coliseum Sports Media (pioneers of ‘online television’ in New Zealand) has given me on-the-ground experience in fighting fires, with consumers and competitors alike, when ‘challenger brands’ disrupt the status quo in an established market.

I live at Muriwai so enjoy the wild west coast. I'm at my happiest being outside and with nature. I also  love music and so play bad keyboards and sing in a band!
